Healthy home air filters now come standard in all new homes by Meritage Homes, a residential home builder based in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Moving forward, all of their new homes will come with a MERV 13 air filter and EPA’s voluntary Indoor airPLUS certification. To earn this EPA certification label, a builder has to follow specific construction practices and product specifications that minimize exposure to airborne pollutants and contaminants.

“We are extremely proud to be the first public builder to bring the MERV-13 air filtration standard and the EPA airPLUS certification to all of our buyers,” says Steve Hilton, CEO of Meritage Homes.

While they are the first public builder to commit to MERV 13 healthy home air filtration systems, they are certainly not the last.

In today’s environment, homeowners understand the only air they can control is the air they breathe at home. Improving their indoor air quality to breathing cleaner, healthier air is top of mind.

Healthy Air Filtration for Every Home

It’s important to understand these air filters aren’t just for new homes, they are for your home as it exists today.

As long as you have an HVAC system, there’s a great chance this air filtration will work for you. Learn more about the best air filter on the market and how to get the best one.

What’s the Best Air Filter for my Home?

MERV 13 air filters are the best air filter for most homes. It’s currently the highest-rated filter that can fit into a home’s return air grille with no modifications, and without restricting airflow.

Any filter rated higher than MERV 13 can make your existing HVAC systems work harder and reduce their life.

Where Can I Buy a Quality Home Air Filter?

You can certainly find them available online, but do you really know what you’re getting? Do you know if it’s compatible with your system? Will something work better for your home? Is the filter simply made by some random guy named MERV?

These are questions only a professional can answer. Contact your local IAQ professional to inspect your system, determine what you need, and have them install a quality MERV 13 air filter for you.

If your home’s HVAC system is compatible with a MERV 13 air filter, we recommend Zephyr.

It’s 3 inches thick, pleated, lasts for 6 months, and has a foam gasket around the perimeter to ensure it has a complete seal.
